It was assumed that Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall was the leading candidate for the Longhorn position, but it seems that Smart has assumed the role.
Smart ,37, has been one of the hottest coaching commodities for the last several years now. While at VCU, he has a 163-56 record with one immaculate Final Four appearance. He has turned down many big program opportunities such as UCLA and Marquette in the past. However, this may be by far his biggest offer to date.
