Floyd Mayweather Jr. is starting to approach the end of his illustrious career, so he’ll slowly start shifting his focus towards the business side. The undefeated (48-0) champion may be on the verge of signing talented young boxer Rock Blackwell to The Money Team, giving him a light heavyweight to add to Mayweather Promotions.
Blackwell has trained alongside both Money Mayweather and his father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., in the past few weeks. Those sessions have obviously been going very well, as they’ve begun to show interest in bringing Blackwell on board. They are currently in discussions to have a deal completed before the end of this year.
Everything seems to be moving in the right direction for Blackwell, as he also signed a deal with Comcast Sports Net recently, which will allow all of his fights to be aired live on television. Blackwell has also spent time training with Roger Mayweather, Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s uncle, and they all seem to be very comfortable working with one another.
Blackwell is already a very marketable boxer, but joining The Money Team will take his popularity through the roof. He recently posted several pictures to his Instagram account while working with Floyd and the team. There were many photos of Blackwell wearing “TMT” hats, which gives a strong indication that he’s next in line to join the establishment.
But this is just the tip of the iceberg for Blackwell, as he’ll allow his boxing skills to speak for itself once he gets a nationally-televised opportunity. Be on the lookout, because “King Rocky,” as he likes to go by, may soon become one of the biggest names in the sport of boxing.
