The Detroit Tigers announced Thursday morning that right-handed pitcher Joe Nathan will undergo season-ending surgery. Nathan suffered a torn UCL and a torn flexor pronator tendon.

Nathan suffered the injury yesterday with the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens.

He played in just one game with the Tigers this season.

Last season, Nathan finished the year with a 4.81 ERA and 35 saves.

Considering Nathan is 40 years old and will be undergoing this type of surgery, his chances of ever playing in the league again is completely uncertain.
