Arizona State has hired former Duke player and Buffalo coach Bobby Hurley to fill their coaching vacancy, according to multiple reports.

The 43-year-old spent two seasons coaching at Buffalo, and compiled a 42-20 record. He led his team to the NCAA Tournament this season, where they lost in the Round of 64 to West Virginia.

The Sun Devils fired Herb Sendek after nine seasons last month, and interviewed quite a few candidates — including current Duke assistant Jeff Capel — before making the decision to bring Hurley aboard.

Hurley was an assistant at Wagner (2010-11) and Rhode Island (2012) before taking the job with Buffalo.

Arizona State has only been to the NCAA Tournament once in the past six years, and twice in 12 years — both under Sendek.
